One might laugh and joke that we don't have much luck. Two hurricanes in four months . . .yeah that's not very lucky. However, we feel quite the opposite. As Hurricane Ana was looming over us late last week we were incredibly grateful that we were prepared with tons of SPAM and that it was a very mild storm in little Hilo. We barely had any wind and the rain made it quite cool . . .compared to the usual mugginess.
The only downfall to Hurricane Ana was that we couldn't spend our weekend out on the beach but had to hunker down in our oh-so-cozy apartment and wait the rain out. Why do the storms always end up passing over us on a weekend? Hmmm.
At one point we did venture out but after getting pretty wet made our way back home swiftly. Boy are we glad for a vehicle these days. Here are some pictures of the rainfall that we captured outside our apartment:

Luckily the majority of the residents in the state were prepared as well . . .they learned lessons from the past storm that went through. All shelters were opened and manned and there was a minimum of water cases you could buy set in place.
It was crazy, last storm people would buy water cases by the truck load and then returned them all after the storm went through. It was sad because this left a lot of people who needed the water without it.
Whenever it storms we seem to get a lot of critters too. We finally caught a picture of the elusive but annoying coqui frog.
This is what they sound like EVERY night (I've become quite fond of it though) . . .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZUOiZG84c0

I love the huge geckos that come hang out with me during the day and keep me company (it's hard to tell but this one is about eight inches long). They don't come inside all the way but just slip under our screen door and hangout between the sheets.
We're so grateful for the safety we had this last week and the love our family and friends showed us by checking up on us and making sure we were okay.
We signed up for an adventure and we are sure getting one.
We miss you Utah . . .but we've Gone Surfing!
