For Valentines Day this year, I surprised M. with a trip to Kona - the West side of Hawaii Island. I had plans for us to enjoy ample time at the beach and the resort pool; soaking in those magical rays. Well, we didn't make the pool or beach, but we still enjoyed our epic "stay-cation". Story Time... The day before we left we spent quite a bit of time outside at volleyball practice and university events. I swear we kept Luna away from the sun and shaded her at all times, but still our poor girl developed quite a sunburn - AHH I feel like such a terrible Mother! The craziest part is that it was just her head and the rest of her body was totally fine. Well, we modified our plans a bit in Kona, bought 100% pure aloe juice for her burn, and enjoyed the glorious A/C of the hotel for a good long while. |
The burn didn't seem to bug her at all but we didn't want to risk exposing her anymore so everywhere we went we covered her with umbrella's, blankets, canopies, etc. It must have been a sight to behold.
The Royal Kona Resort is one of our favorite places to stay on the Islands. They do an excellent job of keeping the resort absolutely beautiful, they are fairly priced, and it's right on Ali'i Street where you can get to everything. Our Princess Luna got spoiled and got her own bed . . .don't worry she slept in her crib at night.
It was wonderful to have the opportunity to get away from everything for a moment and just enjoy and breath. Luna is now at the age too where she's fun to travel with and just made us giggle the whole time. We cannot believe that just last year on Valentines Day we were hoping and praying for a little one of our own. How time flies and how grateful we are for God's tender mercies.
I'm SO unbelievably grateful for my TWO Valentines this year. I got my first "Mom" card from Luna which I'm planning on framing and keeping forevermore. My heart is so full.
